IN-VEHICLE NETWORKING FOR HEAVY-DUTY SYSTEMS

PREREQUISITES: BIOEN 3023 or Equivalent and experience

COURSE OBJECTIVES: The objective of this course is to provide students with a working knowledge of in-vehicle network systems and exposure to design issues associated with those systems. An introduction to CAN based networking will be included. A comprehensive coverage of ISO 11783 and SAE J1939 will be provided.

MEETING TIME: 4:30-6:00PM M,F in 225 Ag Hall

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS: Students will be given homework projects in which independent work is expected. Closed book/notes examinations over homework and lectures will be given as scheduled. Assignments are due at the beginning of the period, one week after the assignment was made. No more than half credit will be given for assignments that are late. No credit will be given for assignments that are over one class period late. Students with appropriate excuses and prior arrangements with the instructor may reschedule examinations.

GRADING:

Project 60% 7 homework assignments @ 8.57%

Examinations 40% 2 exams @ 20.00% each

The final grade will be based on the total percentage of the above determined from the following table.
