Use the Thomas Co simulator (http://www.chem.mtu.edu/~tbco/cm416/pidchoice.html)
to tune a PID controller for System A and System B in the simulator. For each system, tune the controller using:
a. Zeigler-Nichols field tuning
method (Table 7-1.1)
b. Zeigler-Nichols Quarter Decay
Ratio method (Table 7-2.1)
c. Minimum Error Integral Tuning
based on ITAE for a setpoint change (Table 7-2.3)
Provide the tuning settings
(and FOPDT model for b and c)
for each System (3 sets of
values, Kc, Ti, Td, for each System).
Capture the data for a step test of 0.1 magnitude
for each tuning configuration for System A.
(Use ctl-C to copy the data table after
pressing the pause button and paste the data into a spreadsheet) Calculate ITAE for each of the step responses
and determine which tuning method is best for this situation.
Complete this assignment and turn in by March 23rd.
