Virtual Terminal characteristics
- Currently a draft based on DIN 9684
- Defines a terminal that may be used by network ECUs
- An ECU may secure terminal use, other ECUs are unaware
- Two Group Mode messages used for all communication
- VT to ECU, and ECU to VT with function code in data
- ECU builds Masks in terminal for later selection and display
- ECU may update Fields in Masks or select fields for input
- Uses function keys with on-screen discriptors
- Supports text and numeric I/O, Screen graphics
- Has graphic primitives for bar gauges, lines circles etc.
- Has “disk” file storage/recall capability
